Artesia Brewing

While the Covid 19 lockdown put some aspects of brewery construction on hold, we still had plenty of projects that needed our attention. The last 6 months have not been spent exactly as we had anticipated, but much as been accomplished.

Neighbors were kind enough to reach out when clusters of bees were spotted, and we were able to relocate 3 additional swarms to our newly constructed hives.

The wall on the old barn needed attention,

so we removed the old manger

and replaced it with an entrance to a balcony play house for the grandchildren.

Walls were framed up in the brewery and ceiling panels were put in place

The roof was replaced on the old pigshed behind the brewery in preparation for solar panel installation.

Our family has been stewards of the land for over a century. In the cement beside the barn you can see the hand imprints made by the current owner back in 1958 when he was 4 years old

and the 1937 initials of his grandfather.

We decided to use some of our stay at home days working to collect and submit the paperwork for official recognition as an Illinois Centennial Farm.

Our neighbors have decided to tear down their old barn and were kind enough to let us remove the old barn boards. We plan to use the wood for wainscoting in the brewery tasting room.

But our most favorite days were those we spent in the orchard.
